The 2012 Leicestershire Junior County Closed was held at New Parks Leisure Centre over the weekend of the 22/23 September 2012.
 
With over 55 entries from clubs throughout the county, the event saw many new faces especially in the U11, U13 and U15 age groups. Leicester Squash Club had the largest number of entries (23) while Hermitage and Market Harborough Squash Clubs entered their biggest numbers in recent years of 10 each.
 
One of the closest matches was in the final of the U17 age group. James Payne (Hermitage) went 2 – 0 up after a close 12/10 win in the second game, however Patrick Sadd (Market Harborough) did not waver and took the third 17/15. The match was all square as Patrick went on to take the fourth. The fifth was nip and tuck all the way until Patrick finally clinched the match and title.
 
From the results of the weekend, invitations to join this year’s county junior squads will be sent out to attend the eight coaching sessions and play inter-county fixtures.
The Junior Committee have received generous donations from both the Men’s and Ladies Squash Leaques to help provide these invaluable training days.
 
A presentation ceremony was held after the final match with prizes kindly donated by Dunlop.
